Chapter 3
Emily wasn't about to let it go. She was about to call out another offer.
"Enough!" Michael stepped in, clearly frustrated. "It's just a necklace. Let her have it. What's the big deal? Just pick another one."
After all, no matter who ended up with the necklace, it was all coming out of his pocket anyway.
Michael's business was finally picking up. He had maybe ten million to his name now. But even that wouldn't last if we kept burning through cash like this.
Emily's eyes flashed with frustration, but she didn't dare piss him off. She could only pout and sulk, giving up for now.
And I wasn't about to let her get another shot. I quickly moved on to the next display.
"I'll take every piece of jewelry in this case. Just wrap them all up for me. And keep swiping this card until it can't take it anymore."
Then I shot Cedric a playful look. "Babe, you did say before we left that I could buy whatever I wanted, didn't you? You're not planning to break your promise now, are you?"
Cedric paused for a moment and then shook his head. "Of course not."
"You're the best, honey!" I grinned, smacking a big kiss right on Cedric's lips.
After that, I was so busy watching the salesperson pack up my haul that I didn't even bother to look at anyone else.
With every extra item she wrapped up, Emily and Michael's faces fell a little more.
After all, they both knew my "husband" had already given me the green light to max out that card. If Michael tried to freeze the card now, he'd totally give himself away.
Honestly, if he did, I'd just file for divorce right then and there. He was the one in the wrong, so I'd walk away with a lot of his money.
If he didn't dare to stop me, then he couldn't blame me for blowing his cash to vent my anger.
By the time we were done, I'd swiped one million dollars on that card before it finally showed insufficient funds. I left the mall with my arms full of jewelry and designer bags, feeling totally satisfied.
That night, after my shower, I pounced on Cedric and pushed him onto the bed.
"Honey, you were so good to me today. Can we go out and have some fun again tomorrow, please?" As I spoke, I kissed my way from his eyes to his lips, planting little kisses along the way.
"Whatever you want." Cedric chuckled, clearly loving it, then rolled us over and pinned me beneath him.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer.
Spending like crazy during the day and getting to sleep with a hot guy at night? Life didn't get much better than this.
Over the next few days, I dragged Cedric all over town, hitting up every fun spot I could think of.
If it cost money, I was game. Any luxury goods or jewelry that caught my eye, I bought without a second thought.
Once Michael's card was maxed out, I just had Cedric pay for everything. As for where the money came from? That was none of my concern.
After more than a week of nonstop fun, I was finally wiped out.
That day, Cedric and I didn't go anywhere. We just stayed home, snuggled up watching movies, and I was starting to doze off.
Cedric's phone buzzed with a message. He glanced at it and then suddenly frowned.
I looked up at him and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Just keep watching. I'll be right back." Without another word, he ruffled my hair, got up, and walked out the door.
About ten minutes later, a man walked back in, sat down next to me with easy familiarity, and pulled me into his arms. "Honey, I'm back."
I couldn't tell their faces apart, but I could immediately tell it was Michael.
This fool didn't even bother to change his outfit. He was rocking the same shirt-and-pants combo as Cedric. But the material was way off.
With my face blindness, I have to rely on clothes and other details to recognize people, so I was hyper-aware of what people wear, picking up on every little detail since I was a kid.
The moment he walked in, I could tell right away that it was Michael.
Not to mention that there was a strange scent on him, something I'd never smelled before. Obviously, it was Emily's perfume.
Pretending nothing was off, I snuggled up to him for a while before suddenly sitting up. "I've got a stew simmering in the kitchen. I'll go check on it."
Michael just nodded and stayed put.
A little while later, I let out a dramatic scream from the kitchen. "Honey!"
Michael jumped and rushed in to see what was wrong.
The next second, I swung the pan and smashed it right over his head.
