On Tuesday morning, Adrian spotted the dance shoes in my bag.

"You're really going through with this?"

"Tonight at seven. At Lydia's."

He poured his coffee. "A beginner class? That's good. Get some exercise."

"I'm getting back into training."

He didn't ask anything else. He just said he'd be at the studio too, for an extra practice session with Vanessa at eight.

After work, I arrived ten minutes early.

Owen stood beside the mirror. His gaze lingered on my shoe bag.
