Chapter 1
Colin had just turned one when I brought up the divorce. Juliana's disheveled appearance and changes in her figure were unbearable to me. To my surprise, she agreed right away.
"I'll walk away with just the clothes on my back, but you must look after Colin on your own for six months. Do we have a deal?"
I thought it was a ridiculous demand. How hard could it be? I sneered, "It's only taking care of a child, after all. Who could tolerate what's become of you now?"
==============================
Raising a kid isn’t that difficult, especially when I can get my mom to help out. What does she know anyway? Suddenly, Juliana rushed off to the bathroom, and I knew why. Her nursing pads needed changing.
I often felt disgusted, viewing her as nothing more than a dairy cow, constantly leaking and leaving a sour smell wherever she went. She took her time, her cheeks flushed, and she changed into another evening dress. Before marriage, she was a stunning beauty. Now, she had a wardrobe full of evening dresses.
"So you're okay with me keeping him, right? No problem; he’s a Lewis after all. Naturally, I won't let him go with you."
Her tone was unsettlingly indifferent as she shook her head slightly. "You're mistaken. I want you to handle everything yourself. If not, I won’t sign the divorce papers, and I’ll rent the apartment next door to keep an eye on you. I'll give you the money after six months."
She paused briefly. "If you refuse, I’ll take legal action against your affair, and I’ll recover every penny you've given her."
I felt my face stiffen.
So, she knew everything. But guilt wasn't the issue—I just couldn't stand the humiliation of being seen with my wife anymore.
"Juliana, are you serious?"
She had to be serious, regardless of whether I decided to follow through.
"Yes, we can draft an agreement."
Without hesitation, I agreed. For the first time, her face showed a rare trace of sarcasm. "You're really eager for her, aren't you?"
"Juliana, don't bring others into our mess. Reina and I haven't even been intimate."
I insisted again, "I haven't cheated on you, don’t accuse me of that."
She remained silent, just staring at me. For reasons I couldn't explain, a sudden wave of insecurity hit me.
