Chapter 2
Hearing his voice, I didn't even bother to turn around. I quietly picked up a tissue and dabbed at my lips.
"What the hell are you trying to do?" Zane stormed up to me, hands pressed against the table, leaning in and looming over me. "Delete your Instagram post. Right now."
I looked up, meeting his furious glare with a calm gaze. "What did I do?"
My voice was soft, almost casual. "I'm just sharing my life."
"Sharing your life?" Zane scoffed, as if he'd just heard the biggest joke ever. He raised his voice. "Do you call this sharing your life? You're trying to ruin me."
He reached out, trying to snatch my phone off the table.
I leaned slightly to the side and dodged him easily, picking up the phone.
He grasped nothing. Furious and embarrassed, he pointed a finger at me. "You're crazy. Rosalyn, you're a total lunatic."
He started hurling insults, blaming me for everything, like I was the one who cheated.
I watched him rant coldly until he eventually ran out of things to say.
"Last Wednesday, you told me you were going to a two-day finance training in the neighboring city," I said, my words slow and deliberate. "I checked your company's schedule. The only training that day was for the sales department.
"You stayed at Vision Hotel, Room 1808. And you were with Georgia."
My voice stayed calm, but the words hit him hard.
His face went ghostly pale in an instant, panic flickering in his eyes. His lips moved, but no words came out.
In the middle of the silence, his phone suddenly started ringing. The sharp sound cut right through the room.
I glanced at his phone on the table. The screen lit up with the name "Georgie".
What a lovely nickname.
I jerked my chin toward him, signaling for him to answer. "Go ahead. Answer it."
Zane froze for a moment, then hurried over and quickly declined the call.
That one reaction exposed everything.
Just then, the front door was flung open again. My in-laws, James and Olivia, burst in, their faces dark with fury.
Olivia's face was twisted with rage as she charged straight at me. "Bitch, are you hiding here as if nothing happened? I should beat the hell out of you."
She raised her hand, aiming to slap me right across the face.
I reacted instantly and grabbed her wrist before the slap could land.
Her wrist was thin and fragile. I tightened my grip slightly, and she cried out in pain.
"Ah, let go of me," she shrieked.
I flung her hand away so hard that she staggered back a couple of steps, bumping right into Zane.
"Before you try to lay a hand on me in my own house, you'd better think twice about the consequences," I said with a stern face.
Olivia was intimidated by me, frozen in place, only able to point at me and curse.
I couldn't be bothered to waste another word on them. I picked up my phone and hit a button.
The massive TV in the living room lit up instantly. The next second, Zane and Georgia's chat log appeared on the screen, crystal clear for everyone to see.
Their conversation made me sick.
Georgia: [Zane, when are you going to divorce that bitch?]
Zane: [Very soon, babe. Be patient.]
Georgia: [Is your mom still nagging you two about having kids? She's so annoying.]
Zane: [Don't worry about her. Once we're together, I won't let her bother you.]
The living room went dead silent.
Olivia stared at the screen, her face draining of color as her eyes locked onto one particular line.
Her breath became heavier as she stared at the screen in disbelief, her fingers shaking. "Did she call me annoying?"
Her voice came out strained, rough, and sharp, as if the words were being forced through her teeth.
Then she suddenly turned to Zane, eyes blazing with anger. "Did she call me that? Zane. Look at the woman you like."
Just as things were about to explode, hurried footsteps and muffled sobs came from the doorway.
Georgia had picked the perfect moment to show up.
The moment she stepped inside, she looked fragile and shaken, eyes swollen, face pale. Without even glancing at anyone else, she rushed straight into Zane's arms.
"Zane, I'm so sorry, it's all my fault. I never thought Rosalyn would be so upset." She cried so hard that it sounded like she was the real victim here.
Zane instinctively pulled her into his arms, murmuring comfort to her.
The whole thing was unbelievably ironic. Watching them, I felt a wave of nausea churn in my stomach.
Georgia's performance didn't stir the slightest reaction in me.
I calmly swiped through my phone. "Relax, the real drama is just getting started."
As I spoke, the screen on the living room TV shifted to the next display.
My Instagram profile appeared on the screen. Aside from the first intimate photo, the other eight pictures were shown one by one for everyone to see.
The first image showed a comparison of two shopping receipts.
On the left was the necklace Zane gave me for our anniversary last month, a domestic piece priced at 300 dollars. On the right was the luxury bag he bought for Georgia three days later, with a receipt showing 13 thousand.
The second picture showed selfies of the two of them. Even though the photos were taken at different times and places, they were wearing matching bracelets and smiling at the camera.
The third picture showed a location tag from a company team event.
Two weeks ago, Zane's company organized a team event outside the city. He told me he had to work late instead. Yet his phone's location history placed him at a seaside resort hundreds of miles away.
And the person with him, once again, was Georgia.
Every single picture proved they had an affair.
