Chapter 3
3.Chapter 3
Lillianassumed that I was talking nonsense due to the emotional turmoil caused by Troy: "I’ve been telling you to divorce Troy for a long time, but it’s never too late. Come on, let’s drink until we’re drunk tonight."
She said this and happily grabbed a glass, gulping it down.
Smack.
Lillian put the now-empty glass on the bar counter.
"Lane, it's hard to find a three-legged frog, but two-legged men are everywhere. With your condition, you can easily find someone better than that scumbag."
I have a rather glamorous appearance, and over the years, due to Troy's preferences, I changed my usual style of dress. I now wear light makeup, deliberately hiding my sharp edges.
"I’m going to the restroom."
In the corridor, a man was leaning against the wall. His facial features were sharply defined by the light and shadows, and his shirt collar was casually unbuttoned, giving off a somewhat careless vibe.
Stephen?
What is he doing here?
Maybe sensing my gaze, he looked over at me.
"Lane, I thought you were all transformed into a virtuous wife and mother. What are you doing in a place like this?"
I gave a faint smile and replied, "I’m already divorced."
"You should have divorced him long ago."
Suddenly, Stephen's tone changed.
"How about giving me a chance?"
The bar’s flashing lights and his tone made it seem like a joke, but his eyes showed a hint of perLanetence.
I couldn’t tell if he was serious or not, and I no longer had the courage to gamble on someone’s sincerity.
Seeing that I didn’t respond, Stephen smiled and said, "It’s getting late. Let me take you home."
I was about to refuse when Lillianappeared behind me.
"Sure, then it’s up to you, Stephen."
Afterward, she whispered in my ear, "Take the chance. Stephen seems pretty good to me."
