Chapter 10
Her lips were so soft, and Ethan felt a rush of heat all over. He gripped Vanessa's waist, pulling her even closer into his arms.
But as they kissed, Ethan couldn't help but picture Olivia's blushing face in his mind.
He never loved Olivia, so after they got married, he kept his distance, barely speaking to her, and they slept in separate rooms.
One night after he’d had one too many drinks at the dinner party, he came home to find Olivia had prepared hangover soup for him. Beneath her robe she wore a camisole slip and in the lamplight her skin was startlingly pale.
Ethan pulled Olivia into his arms and kissed her.
Olivia trembled in his embrace, her nails digging into his shoulders from the discomfort. Later, when he kissed her again, she was so shy and inexperienced, awkwardly returning his kiss.
Suddenly, the heat drained out of Ethan, and he pushed Vanessa away.
Vanessa froze for a moment, then lowered her head and pressed a soft kiss to his Adam's apple, her voice breathy and shy. "Ethan, you've waited for me so long. You don't have to hold back anymore. I want to be yours, too."
Her moves were so practiced and flirtatious that Ethan was struggling to resist her.
Just then, his phone on the nightstand started ringing.
"Vanessa, let me grab this call real quick," Ethan said, gently easing her aside as he grabbed his phone and slipped out of the room.
It was his secretary calling, and Ethan wrapped up the call in just a few minutes.
For some reason, he just couldn't bring himself to go back to the cabin and face Vanessa. Why did Olivia keep popping into his head, even when he was kissing Vanessa?
He hated Olivia. Or at least, he was supposed to.
Otherwise, he never would have sent her to his brother's bed out of spite.
