Chapter 4

Nathanael and Yesenia took the head of the table. Joyce sat to Yesenia's right. Enzo and Phillip were on either side. And me? They stuck me all the way at the end, right next to the kitchen entrance.

I stood at the table for a couple seconds, then laughed.

"What's with this seating? Looks like you're splitting up the inheritance," I said.

Enzo slammed his fork down. "Can you stop being so snarky?"

I ignored him and headed right for Joyce.

"Move," I said.

She froze, her eyes welling up with tears. "Cecelia..."
