Chapter 4

The EMTs lifted me onto the gurney. As the ambulance doors were swinging shut, I heard their voices.

"Doctor, please, you have to save the baby!" they cried out.

The ambulance screeched to a halt at the hospital entrance.

A medical team swarmed the vehicle, swiftly rushing me through the automatic doors into the ER.

My parents arrived soon after. Emily trailed behind them, her eyes expertly glistening with unshed tears.
