Chapter 3

When I went back to work after my "honeymoon leave," my coworkers all looked at me with pity in their eyes.

Some asked if I was going to have another wedding.

Some told me to really think it through.

Some even called Linda the homewrecker and said I should fight back.

I just brushed them all off.

When Charles promised me a grander wedding, for a moment, my heart actually skipped a beat. I felt a spark of hope.

But after that, the only thing that happened was the wedding planner reaching out to me. Nothing else changed.
