I stared at that message for three seconds.

Then I deleted it.

A week before the trial.

Edward had sent me seven messages in a row, and I hadn't replied to a single one.

On the eighth day, he switched tactics.

He tracked down one of my old colleagues and, after some digging, managed to find out where I work now.

At three in the afternoon, I was in my office, discussing the case with Henry.

The front desk called me on the intercom. "Ms. Reed, there's a Mr. Edward Foster here to see you. He doesn't have an appointment."
