"Mommy, is that really you? Can you come see me?" Stella's voice was trembling with hope.

I steadied myself and replied, "Of course I can."

After getting the address and hanging up, I turned to the stunned crowd. "That's it for today. Gotta go home and comfort my kid."

Ignoring Charles, whose face was as dark as thunder, I grabbed my bag from the seat and walked out without looking back.
