But I didn't tell Nicole about it directly.

The reason was simple. I didn't have any real evidence.

I just remembered seeing a document at the private equity firm two years ago.

But whether that document even existed was still up in the air. Even if it did, there was no guarantee I could actually dig it up. Plus, I was just an intern running errands back then, who would take me seriously?

If I said anything, people would just think I was some freeloading loser with wild ideas, making things up.

So I needed to get some real proof.
