On the way back, I noticed Jonathan wasn't wearing his wedding ring.

Honestly, I knew Judith had secretly stashed it away.

"Why aren't you wearing your ring?" I asked casually.

Jonathan's eyes flashed with unease for just a second, but his face stayed calm. "It's probably at the office. I'll look for it when I get back."

When we got married, Jonathan had a designer make us custom rings, and he even engraved them himself. Those rings were the symbol of our most genuine feelings.
