At the entrance of the old house on South Street, Chloe stood in a white dress, holding a thick stack of blueprints.

Eric stood beside her, and when he saw David and me getting out of the car together, his face darkened.

Mrs. Brown, the client, came out and headed straight for me.

"Ms. Lane, you're finally here. My mom was so upset last night she couldn't sleep," she said.
