In our circle of friends, I was jokingly called an empty threat. I had been married for five years. Every time I caught my husband, Wilbur Maxwell, cheating, I would erupt in fury. However, I would always swallow my pride later and reconcile with him in order to patch up this relationship that was already full of cracks. One day, Wilbur brought a woman home. She asked him softly, "Mr. Maxwell, aren't you afraid that your wife would make a scene?" Wilbur wiped away his sweat and shrugged. "She will always calms down after venting." I happened to open the door as he was speaking. After I heard that, I quietly retreated, hiding in the stairwell to send him a message. I wrote: [Wilbur, I will be home in ten minutes. I left work early today.] Minutes later, I crossed paths with a woman who had hickeys all over his neck. When she saw me, she was slightly surprised as she instinctively stepped back. She was probably afraid of me hitting her. I would if it was in the past. However, I no longer wanted to do that anymore. An hour earlier, I had accepted a stranger's business card at a bar. For the first time, I wondered if it was fun to cheat.
