When the car stopped outside Nora's building, I was still checking the street number.

Only when she opened the door and took my computer did I realize how badly I was shaking.

"Claire?"

I tried to ask if I could stay the night, but my teeth were chattering too hard to speak.

She locked the door and brought me a blanket. When she saw the injury beneath my sleeve, she crouched in front of me.

"I'm taking you to the ER. Leave your things here."
