The next morning, I got up earlier than usual.

I put on some flawless makeup and slipped into a business suit I hadn't touched in forever.

Staring at my reflection, I barely recognized myself. Gone was the tired housewife with messy hair.

David blinked awake, clearly caught off guard. "You're heading out today?"

"Yeah, I've got plans with a friend for lunch," I said.

"Which friend?" he asked, sitting up and frowning.
