Chapter 5
Chapter 5 Sealed Fangs
My heart felt frozen.
Frozen like a chunk of ice that's been around for a thousand years, never melting.
I thought I'd forgotten how that felt.
That feeling of absolute power, of holding life and death in my hands.
I chose the name Winters Jing for myself.
It means gentle and serene.
I used to foolishly believe that was the life I truly wanted.
Just being a wife and mother, dreaming of a tranquil, quiet existence.
For that, I tore out all my own claws and fangs with my own hands.
I sealed away all my sharpness, every bit of my edge.
I even let go of my original surname.
The surname that echoed through the business world like thunder.
I thought I'd found true love.
But looking back, it was only me playing out this drama.
Just a self-deceiving joke, fooling no one but myself.
I closed my laptop.
The room was completely dark.
Only two icy flames burned quietly in my eyes.
Andrew. Vivian.
You shattered the dream I treasured more than anything.
Now, I'll make you feel what it's like to be ripped from heaven and thrown straight into hell.
I took out my old backup phone.
It had been eight years since I last powered it up.
Without hesitation, I pressed the power button.
The screen lit up, and the family emblem, those golden wings I knew so well, flashed across it.
Almost instantly, the phone blew up with texts and missed call alerts, flooding in nonstop.
The notification chimes just kept going for five whole minutes before finally stopping.
I didn't bother with any of them.
I went straight to the contact labeled "Mr. Chandler."
I hit call.
The call connected almost instantly.
A voice came through—aged, but unwaveringly steady.
"Miss." There was no hesitation, only quiet certainty.
As if he'd always known this call would come.
"Hi, Mr. Chandler, it's me." I said.
I kept my voice steady.
"I need you to handle a few things for me."
"What are your orders, Miss?" he said, steady as ever.
"First, mobilize every resource we have and lock down all liquid assets under Andrew's name, as well as every cent in our joint accounts,
"I want him penniless before he even knows what hit him."
Mr. Chandler was silent for a moment.
"Yes, Miss. Give me three hours."
"Second, get a divorce agreement ready for me." I said.
"As for the assets, I want him out on the street with nothing... Not a single cent, not even his dignity."
"Understood." he replied.
"Third, notify all the family elders on the board. I'm calling an emergency meeting in three days,
"The topicis we're kicking out the current CEO of Globalis Group."
Mr. Chandler finally sounded a little surprised.
"Miss, you mean...?"
"Yes. I'm going back." I gazed into the darkness outside, speaking every word with purpose.
Andrew's company was called Linwood Tech.
It sounded like he'd made it all on his own.
But there was something he never told anyone.
His very first and largest angel investment came straight from Universal Group.
It was my family's business.
All the crucial technology and connections that Linwood Tech relied on to survive these years were all thanks to Universal Globalis's support.
My father believed in him more than anyone else.
He was also the man I was willing to turn my back on my whole family.
He thought he was marrying a meek little lamb.
But he forgot one thing.
Behind me, there's a whole pack of wolves ready to strike.
Now, the wolf is back on the hunt.
"All clear, Miss." Mr. Chandler replied.
