The dead silence in the conference room was my first true victory.

Damian stood frozen, his face a mask of pure terror, as the weight of his confession hung in the air. I didn’t give him a second to recover. I turned my back on his panicked eyes and walked out of the room, leaving the elders to whisper in shock.

I didn't stop there. If he could slip up about the "master alarm," then his entire foundation of lies was rotting from the inside.

I went straight to the medical archives.
