Chapter 4

It was a lawsuit document. I was the plaintiff, and James was the defendant. To my disbelief, the case wasn't about divorce. It was about bigamy.

"James, you and Emily filled out a pre-registration form at city hall last December, planning to get married this April," I said, spelling it out for him. "But we got our marriage certificate last November."

The home office was so quiet, and the only sound was the second hand of the wall clock ticking away.
