Chapter 3

The next morning, I dragged my suitcase out of the bedroom.

Charles was already up, sitting at the dining table with a bowl of instant noodles in front of him.

He looked up, a little surprised. "You're up early."

"Yeah, I'm catching the train," I said.

Charles stood up. "Let me give you a ride."

"No, that's alright." I slip on my shoes and set my suitcase upright. "You should head to work."

He stood there, looking like he wanted to say something but held back.

I finally looked up at him.

"Charles," I said, "I might be staying longer…
