The ring was far too big.

It sat loose on my finger, ready to slip off any second.

Years of severe depression, plus the endless pain that man put me through after our divorce, had worn me down completely.

I'd grown extremely thin, and even my body in death looked unnaturally frail.

Edward pulled the ring off my finger. He let out a shallow breath, clinging weakly to a false sense of relief as he muttered, "It doesn't fit. It's not her after all."

Then he chuckled softly. "Of course it isn't. How could it be?"
