My phone rang before I stepped off the television stage.

Jason’s name appeared on the screen.

Natalie was waiting backstage, so I answered and turned on the speaker.

“Half of that house belongs to me,” Jason said.

He did not congratulate me. He did not ask where I would live or whether I was safe.

He wanted the house.

“I bought the raffle ticket during our marriage,” I said.

“Exactly. That makes the prize marital property. You’re going to sell it and give me half, or put my name on the deed.”
