I hung up and immediately sent the bank statements and transfer records to my lawyer friend, David Shaw.

I added a line: [Draft the divorce agreement for me, and file for asset protection while you're at it.]

David replied almost instantly.

David: [You sure about this?]

I replied: [I'm sure.]

David: [Then don't go soft on him again this time.]

I sent: [I won't.]

At eight that night, Eric showed up at my apartment building.
