Chapter 4

Ronan stared down at me from the high seat. His brow furrowed in annoyance.

"You are clearly out of your mind," Ronan announced loudly. "The pain of the broken bond has addled your brain, Elara."

He leaned forward with an expression of supreme pity. "I am feeling generous today. If you kneel right now and apologize to Vivienne, I will still allow you to keep your room."

He pointed a finger at the floor. "Kneel."

The two senior elders stepped out from the crowd before I could speak. They planted their staffs against the stone floor and glared at me.
