"Riley said she wants the place we're living in now, so... what do you think?" Eric asked, his voice hesitant and his face full of conflict.

I'd already figured out that his claim about leaving empty-handed was just a way to prove he was serious about this. So I wasn't going to fight him on it.

Eric, looking nervous, quickly added, "Of course, you can have all the savings."

I nodded, not showing any emotion. "Alright. What about that commercial property up north?"
