Chapter 2
I called my agent and canceled all my activities for the next month.
But Ryan insisted that these upcoming events were super important—a golden chance to push the new movie.
If we promoted it well, we could make a fortune.
After Lily got out of the hospital, I brought her home alone.
Before getting out of the car, I quickly removed the dashcam's memory card.
Ryan was the one who drove this car the most, so if he ever hooked up with his side chick, chances were, the dashcam would've caught them in the act.
My hands shook as I scrolled through every video on the memory card. Sure enough, there it was.
A woman hugged Ryan from behind, and he turned around to kiss her passionately.
What I hadn't expected was that the woman was my sister, Sophie.
She had just turned eighteen.
In the video, she was wearing the designer dress I'd given her for her coming-of-age party.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. But the video was undeniable.
When I played the video right in front of Ryan, he looked absolutely terrified.
I watched as Ryan started smacking his own face.
Ryan pleaded, "Honey, please, let me explain. I swear, I've always seen Sophie as my little sister. She was the one who hugged me first.
"I refused her, but she just wouldn't let it go. From now on, I'll cut her off for good."
I sat on the couch, feeling surprisingly calm.
Honestly, from the moment I saw that video, I'd already braced myself for exactly how Ryan would try to explain it.
Still, I decided to just sit back and let him run through his usual routine.
I glared at Ryan and demanded, "Then why didn't you stop her? Why not just push her away?
"So let me ask you—when you ditched Lily in the car this time, was it just so you could meet up with her again?
Ryan crawled over to me on his hands and knees, practically begging, "Honey, I was wrong. Please, just give me one more chance.
"I promise, I only got out of the car to buy a drink. I hadn't expected Sophie to be there, too.
"She wouldn't stop talking to me, and before I realized it, I totally lost track of time.
"I only spoke to her because she's your sister—if it wasn't for you, I would've ignored her, I swear."
I turned away, not even wanting to look at him. I sneered, "So now this is my fault, huh?"
Ryan pleaded desperately, "No, no, no, it's all my fault. Please, just don't leak that video, I'm begging you.
"Sophie's barely eighteen—if you post that online, the internet will tear her apart. She'll be totally cancelled. Her whole future will be screwed.
"She's your own sister!"
Ryan put on his most pitiful act, spouting all this nonsense about how he was only thinking of Sophie.
He was trying to guilt-trip me and paint me as the villain, pushing me up onto some moral high ground.
He acted like he was totally blameless, as if none of this had anything to do with him.
But if I actually went along with him, he'd be the only one who benefited—he'd get off scot-free.
After all these years sleeping together, he knew my weak spots better than anyone.
I just couldn't break free from the grip of family ties—even if I wanted to.
And besides, Sophie was my baby sister, the one I'd doted on and spoiled ever since we were kids.
I replied, "Alright, I won't post the video. But this marriage is over. We're getting a divorce.
"And per our prenup, you're leaving with nothing—not a single cent."
