Synopsis

At our twenty-fifth anniversary dinner, my husband introduced another woman to his own brother as his wife. He said it in front of the room, and he did not correct himself. Three days later I pulled a marriage certificate from a county two states away, dated eleven years ago. If that certificate stands, I was never his wife, and my daughter's papers have been wrong her whole life.
