Chapter 1
Chapter 1 Stirring Up Trouble
System Notification: [90 days remaining until the final story node: Claire White's Death Birthday Party.
[Current hostility level: Mason Anderson (male protagonist): 70%, Lucas White: 65%, Owen White: 68%, Henry White: 60%.
[Main storyline completion: 60%. Mission success reward: 3 billion in cash, a fully matched bone marrow transplant, and a complete cure for leukemia. Mission failure penalty: Immediate brain death of your real body.]
I stared at the system interface in my mind, sitting in the passenger seat of a limited-edition sports car. I was so excited that I nearly crushed the Hermès Birkin in my hands out of shape.
What I'd been waiting for was finally about to happen.
My name was Claire White. In real life, I was an orphan. Both my parents were gone. Before I was twenty, I was diagnosed with high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The chemotherapy was so brutal that I had vomited bile.
The bone marrow registry could not find a full match, and I did not even have enough money for the next round of treatment. I lay in a hospital bed, waiting for the end.
Then, in the second before I closed my eyes, I bound myself to this "Villainous Supporting Character Wish Fulfillment System."
I heard a system notification and realized I had been pulled into The Billionaire's Replacement Bride, where I became the villainous supporting character who shared my name, Claire White. I was the only daughter of the top-tier billionaire family, the White Family, in Valcrest.
I had a childhood engagement with Mason Anderson, the heir of the Anderson Group. I was obsessed with him. Driven by jealousy toward his beloved one, Ella Clark, I had committed one cruel act after another.
In the end, at my twentieth birthday party, I went mad and tried to kill her. Mason shot me dead on the spot. That was how my story was supposed to end.
My mission was simple: precisely replicate every plot point of Claire, live out three months as the villainous supporting character, and ensure I was killed by the male protagonist at the birthday party.
If I succeeded, I would receive a 3-billion bonus and be matched with a fully compatible bone marrow donor, finally curing my leukemia.
In other words, as long as I followed the script, became the target of the entire city's scorn, and eventually died by the male protagonist's hand, I would get to live.
A deal like that felt almost too good to be true.
Being the villainous supporting character, stirring up hatred, and making myself universally despised were simple enough. I could do that in my sleep.
I'd had enough of tiptoeing around others' moods in my real world. Now, given the chance to cut loose and get a fresh start, I was more than willing.
The screen of my phone lit up with an entertainment headline, [National Sweetheart Ella Clark Returns Today After Overseas Studies!]
Underneath the headline was Ella's flight information. An insider also revealed that Mason and the three heirs of the White family would personally go to the airport to welcome her.
My eyes instantly lit up at the news.
This was the first major climax in the original story.
In the book, Claire had slapped Ella right in front of all the media, fans, Mason, and her three brothers at the airport, ordering her to leave Valcrest. It was this incident that fully cemented her reputation as vicious and spoiled.
Mason and her three brothers' disdain for her peaked, and they publicly turned against her right then.
For me, this was a perfect opportunity to push the plot forward.
I immediately told the driver to turn around and head straight for Valcrest International Airport, speeding as fast as possible.
The airport arrivals hall was already packed to capacity. Ella's fans, the media, and security personnel were layered tightly together, leaving barely any space to move.
In sky-high heels, I pushed past anyone who stood in my way and made my way straight to the front row.
Just then, Ella stepped out with her luggage cart.
She was dressed in a white dress, her long hair flowing over her shoulders.
With gentle eyes and a soft smile, faint dimples appearing when she smiled, she looked like the quintessential pure and delicate heroine, the kind of "goddess" adored by the male protagonist and my three brothers in the book.
And right beside her stood four men, each one oozing pure alpha energy.
On the far left was my eldest brother, Lucas, the head of White Holdings and a titan in Valcrest's business world. Dressed in a black suit, his features were sharply defined, with an oppressive aura clinging to him.
In the original story, he had been the one most protective of Claire, but after her repeated attacks on Ella, he eventually cut all ties with her as his sister and never once visited her before her death.
Beside him stood my second brother, Owen, a top-tier movie star and a national heartthrob. His face was strikingly handsome, and he had over a hundred million fans to his name.
In the original story, after Claire repeatedly targeted Ella in public, Owen openly posted on Twitter to sever ties with her, effectively letting the entire social media landscape brand her as vicious.
To his right stood my third brother, Henry, the youngest genius medical professor in the country. He was quiet and refined, and his surgical skills were almost miraculous.
In the original story, he believed Claire's intentions were malicious. Even when she later came down with a 104-degree fever, he refused to examine her, letting her burn until she eventually collapsed into unconsciousness.
On the far right stood Mason, the male protagonist of this story and my fiancé. He was the heir to Anderson Group. He was also one of the most elite figures in Valcrest's upper circles.
His features were sharp and strikingly handsome, but when his eyes fell on Ella, his gaze softened into something almost tender. It was also he who ultimately pulled the trigger and shot Claire dead.
I felt excited as everyone was finally here.
I took a deep breath, and before anyone could react, I lunged forward and slapped Ella hard across her delicate face.
The slap echoed through the airport, cutting through the chaos. The entire arrivals hall fell into a deathly silence.
Ella held her cheek, staring at me in shock. Her eyes went red in an instant, and tears started falling like pearls on a snapped string, her whole body shaking with humiliation.
This was exactly what I was going for.
Inside, I was practically cheering for the system. On the surface, however, I forced myself into Claire's original arrogant and vicious persona. I crossed my arms, looked down at her, and recited the iconic line from the original plot word for word, "Ella, you bitch.
"Who allowed you to come back? Mason is my fiancé. I'm the only one who can be the young mistress of the White family. Take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Do you really think you can compete with me?"
And just to make it sting a little more, I added a line Claire had never dared to say. "Get out of Valcrest, or I'll make sure you don't even get a crumb to eat!"
Inside, I was over the moon.
I prayed she would confront me, so my hostility level could soar.
According to the plot, Mason would immediately storm over, slap me across the face, pull Ella into his arms, call me vicious, and break off our engagement on the spot.
My three brothers would also rush in, condemn my behavior as completely unreasonable, and publicly sever all ties with me.
I had already braced myself for the slap, eyes squeezed shut, waiting for it to land.
But the anticipated pain never came.
I opened my eyes to see Mason, his brows tightly furrowed, pulling Ella behind him. She cried so hard. He didn't even look at me.
Instead, he swept a cold glance over the surrounding reporters and said flatly, "Anyone who dares to post about what happened today is picking a fight with the White Family and me."
The reporters scrambled to hide their cameras, barely daring to breathe.
I was so confused.
This wasn't how it was supposed to go. He was supposed to slap me. He was supposed to yell at me. He was supposed to call off our engagement.
Before I could process what was happening, Lucas strode over. His expression remained stone-cold. He took hold of my wrist, firm but not painful, and said in an icy tone, "Claire, come home with me."His grip was strong, but it didn't hurt her.
I was utterly stunned.
In the original story, Lucas should have publicly shouted, "The White family doesn't have a girl like you," and disowned me on the spot.
Then Owen walked over. He took off his trench coat and draped it over me, making sure not a trace of skin was exposed.
He shot the crowd of photographers and fans a cold glance and said, "My sister is still young and doesn't know any better. If anyone dares to spread rumors about what happened today, my legal team will deal with you personally."
I couldn't make sense of what was happening. It felt like a dream.
Owen was supposed to call me out for embarrassing him and publicly disown me in front of everyone. Why was he covering me with his coat instead?
I was starting to panic. I turned to Henry, clinging to the last shred of hope.
Henry was the one who hated Claire's dirty tricks and vicious behavior the most. He would definitely reprimand me.
But instead, he walked over, his gaze falling on the hand I had used to slap Ella. He frowned slightly and said in an even tone, "Does your hand hurt? She has no sense of shame. Don't hurt yourself over her."
I was completely lost.
Something had to be wrong with the system.
I looked at the four men who were completely ignoring the script, then at Ella, still sobbing in Mason's arms. My mind went completely blank.
I had perfectly replicated every vicious move the original Claire made, and even gone beyond the script. So why wasn't the hostility level increasing? Why was everyone acting so wrong?
System Notification: [Mason's hostility level +2%, now at 72%; Lucas's hostility level +1%, now at 66%; Owen's hostility level +0%, now at 68%; Henry's hostility level -5%, now at 55%.
[Warning! Henry's hostility level has dropped a lot. Please fix your actions ASAP and max out the target character's hostility level.]
I stared at the system panel, so frustrated I almost coughed up blood.
The five percent drop left me completely stunned.
I wondered if Henry had lost his mind. I had just slapped the woman he admired most in public, and yet his hostility level toward me had actually gone down.
Panic set in. I yanked my hand free from Lucas, took two steps back, and pointed straight at Ella, my words turning even harsher. "I'm not going home.
"Today, I'm going to make it clear who the real heiress of the White Family is, and who Mason's fiancée really is. Ella, if you've got any guts, stop hiding behind them and face me one on one."
I was already acting this outrageous, so I figured it had to be enough to finally piss them off.
But Mason only gave me a blank look and said calmly, "Have you caused enough trouble? If you're done, go home with your brothers."
Ella looked up from his arms, her eyes brimming with tears, and gently tugged at his sleeve. In the softest voice, she said, "Mason, let it go. She's like a sister to me. She didn't mean it. Please don't be angry with her."
"Did you hear that? She's calling me her sister now, and you're still defending her?" I doubled down on the act, lunging forward to shove Ella again, determined to drive that hostility level back up.
But Owen stepped in, blocking me and pulling me behind him. He shot Ella a cool look and said, "Ella, Claire is the only heiress of the White Family. You should address her as Miss White. 'Sister' is not a title you're entitled to."
The entire place fell silent again.
Ella's face turned pale, tears pooling in her eyes. She stood there, mortified, as if she wished the ground would swallow her whole.
I was speechless.
Owen's reaction made it feel like he had picked up the wrong script. He was supposed to defend Ella and scold me instead.
Lucas grabbed my arm and dragged me toward the car, not giving me a chance to argue. "Owen, handle the rest. I'm taking her home."
He shoved me into the car. As I stared out the window at Ella and Mason still standing there, with Owen handling the media, my mind went completely blank.
I came here to stir up trouble and make everyone hate me, but in the end, it felt like Ella was the only one who got hurt.
I screamed at the system in my mind. [System! What the hell is going on? The plot is completely off track.]
System Notification: [Detection complete. The plot deviation is due to abnormal behavior from target characters and is not caused by your actions.
[Please proceed with the remaining story nodes and maximize the hostility levels as soon as possible to ensure the final plot proceeds as planned.]
I took a deep breath and tightened my fists.
I secretly steeled myself. A single deviation from the plot probably wasn't a big deal.
There were plenty of similar scenes in the original story. I was determined to recreate each one perfectly and push their hostility level to the maximum.
Being a villainous supporting character wasn't anything difficult for me. No matter the cost, I wanted my ending to be death.
