This rare moment of Samuel speaking up for me happened to be overheard by Layla, who had just arrived.

She said, "Samuel, you told me you had to return to the company, but you were actually worried about Marlene.

"I shouldn't have meddled. I heard the injured patient is difficult to deal with, so I wanted to speak up for you.
