After Sam pulled through, my place in the village flipped overnight.

Before, everyone thought of me as a well-behaved, slightly naive kid.

Now, when they looked at me, there was awe in their eyes, and a subtle greed hiding beneath the surface.

Linda started treating me like her most precious asset, guarding me day and night, afraid someone would steal me.

Linda stopped making me cook and do laundry. Instead, she started making delicious food for me every day, making sure I was well-fed and chubby.

But the way she looked at me was like I was a golden goose.
