Nicole's POV

On Christmas, I slept until noon. My body was still weak, with occasional pain in my lower abdomen. I made a simple breakfast and finished it slowly.

Then I packed a few essentials. Once I was feeling a little stronger, I'd go file for divorce.

Just then, Alex called. I stared at the unfamiliar number for a second before realizing he'd changed his number.

I hesitated, and then picked up.
