My mom's body was at its breaking point. Years of illness had drained her of every last bit of strength.

I kept vigil by her bedside, crying quietly as I watched over her.

All these years, I kept telling Mom I was dating a wealthy guy who insisted on covering all her medical bills himself, just so she wouldn't have to worry about money at all.

Still, she couldn't help but worry about me. She squeezed my hand and asked, "Are you happy?"

I nodded and replied, "I'm really happy. Alexander's really good to me."
