Chapter 3
Chloe drank in May's compliance, looking smugly satisfied.
I was bleeding everywhere, way too weak to even fight back.
I was barely hanging on, gasping for air, too weak to even say a word.
Chloe gripped my chin with her long nails, her eyes zeroing in on the necklace around my neck.
Before I could even shield it, she yanked it right off me.
"Give it back," I shouted, ignoring the bloody scratches she'd left on my neck.
It was the only thing my mother left me.
I gritted my teeth, my voice trembling with rage. "Give it back!"
I tried to lunge for it, desperate to snatch it back.
But the girls on either side pinned me down and started wailing on me again.
Chloe waved the necklace right in my face, smirking as she taunted me.
She sneered, "Wow, this necklace is really that important to you?"
"I could give it back," she mocked, "but why don't you get on your knees and beg me?"
"Beg nicely, and I might consider it." She smirked.
My eyes were bloodshot, my fists clenched so hard that my nails dug into my palms. I glared at her, pure hatred burning in my gaze.
Chloe looked bored, dangling the necklace between her fingers like it was some cheap piece of junk.
"Guess it doesn't mean that much to you after all." She taunted.
"Well then..." she drawled, her voice oozing sarcasm.
She was holding the necklace, ready to throw it away.
I parted my cracked, bleeding lips and forced out. "I kneel."
As soon as I said it, it felt like every ounce of strength drained out of me.
She bent down and patted my cheek mockingly.
"That's better. Now you're seeing reason," she sneered.
"If you're gonna beg, hurry up. I don't have all day," she sneered.
I stared at the necklace in her hand, shut my eyes for a moment to swallow my pride, then forced myself onto my knees.
Once I got it back, I swore she'd pay for this.
On my knees, I locked eyes with her, my gaze burning with hatred. "Give it back."
Chloe looked smug as hell.
"You think you can just ask for it back? Just like that?" she sneered.
"This is what happens to homewreckers," she spat.
With that, she tossed the necklace to the floor and stomped on it hard, grinding it into the ground.
I could only watch helplessly as it shattered into pieces, completely powerless to stop her.
My voice came out raw and furious. "I'm going to kill you. I swear, I'll kill you!"
I scrambled to my feet, charged at her, and wrapped my hands around her throat.
"She's insane!" Chloe screamed.
Her friends yanked me off her in no time.
I shot her a death glare, my teeth clenched with pure hatred. "Chloe, I'll make you pay for this."
As soon as I said that, they all burst out laughing.
Chloe doubled over, laughing uncontrollably.
"This is killing me. Did I hear that right? You, some hick from the sticks, won't let me off?" she cackled.
"Wow, I'm shaking in my boots. Go on. Show me how you're gonna make me pay," she sneered.
"Looks like she still doesn't get it. Let's give her a reminder," she spat.
They swarmed me again, closing in for another round.
This time, I didn't fight back at all. I just curled up on the floor, letting their fists rain down on me without even trying to shield myself.
"Look at her. She's so broken that she's given up," Chloe cackled.
She laughed until tears streamed down her face.
I stared at the blood spreading on the floor, showing a faint, almost mocking smile.
