Chapter 3
My brows furrowed instantly. I dropped the suit and walked out of the room.
Olivia was squatting down at that moment, smiling and telling Sophie she was going to have a little brother soon. I said coldly, "How did you get in?"
When Olivia saw me, she just lifted her eyebrows calmly. "Hello, Evelyn. I'm sorry to bother you so late," she said. "Mr. Villa gave me the password to come in."
I clenched my fists. That bastard even told this slut the password to my house.
I didn't bother to talk to her. I just walked over calmly to Sophie, who was still confused and didn't understand Olivia's words.
I said, "Sophie, let's go back to your room. It's time for your math check-in. Your teacher is already waiting."
With that, I picked Sophie up directly. However, just when I turned around, Olivia caressed her belly and said, "Evelyn, kids need to rest at night. Why so bother?"
She said, "After all, Sophie's just a girl. She'll just get a dowry and be married off someday. Why do you make her work so hard?"
"Even if you make her learn math or take equestrian lessons, it won't matter," she went on. "The family business will still only be inherited by a son."
My fingers holding Sophie tightened a little.
Olivia had always been bold with her provocations. Ever since I caught her cheating with Richard five years ago, she'd come to pick fights with me from time to time.
She'd sent me videos of her and Richard having sex. She'd sent me videos of the two of them using whips in bed.
She'd even sent me a video of Richard introducing her as his wife to others at a business event.
On top of that, she'd sent me a video of Richard comforting her while she was trying to get pregnant, telling her to have a son.
In the video, Richard was holding her tightly in a hospital corridor—she was about to have IVF.
"Don't worry, just give me a son," he'd said. "I can't give you a marriage, but I can give our son the company," he said.
He continued, "With our genes, I'm sure we'll have a perfect child. I'll personally teach him patiently when he grows up."
Olivia had leaned her whole body into Richard's arms then. "What about Sophie?" she'd asked.
A hint of sarcasm had appeared on Richard's lips immediately. "Sophie? She's just a girl. We'll just give her a dowry and send her off someday," he'd said.
"How good could a kid be when Evelyn took three years of medication to have her? Besides, a kid raised by someone as stupid as Evelyn will just be a loser," he said.
It was Richard's words back then that cut off the last bit of affection I had for him.
Thinking about that painful memory, I covered Sophie's ears and said to Olivia, "Interesting. A homewrecker is threatening me with an illegitimate child who hasn't even been born yet."
I said. "I doubt that bastard in your belly will even be born. Don't dream of inheriting the family business."
But I didn't expect that as soon as I finished speaking, Olivia suddenly started crying. "Evelyn, how could you say that?"
She sobbed. "I was just saying Sophie is too young for learning math. I was only advising you because I care about her. How could you be so cruel to call my child a bastard?"
I frowned slightly. Before I could react, Richard's impatient voice came from behind me.
"Evelyn, are you out of your mind?" he snapped. "Can't you go a day without causing trouble? If you're really that free, tomorrow you can sign up for some yoga classes or flower-arranging classes for me."
My fingers holding Sophie tightened again. If I hadn't clenched my back teeth tightly, I would have really had to help but walk over and slap this man.
I took several deep breaths to hold back my anger, then carried Sophie back to the room.
But as soon as the door closed, I called Robin.
"Tell Richard to move the shareholders' meeting to tomorrow," I said. "And tomorrow, send out the dismissal notices for Chairman Richard and Olivia. I really can't stand these jerks anymore."
