When Jack was pounding on the door, Charles opened the bedroom door.

"Helen, go open the door," he said.

I said, "It's the property manager. You guys are making too much noise and bothering the neighbors."

Seeing I wasn't moving, he came over, grabbed my arm, and yanked me to my feet.

"Helen, do you really have to cause trouble in front of my friends?" he snapped.
