Andrew finally came home, brought back by Sophia.

She had his arm slung over her shoulder, the two of them practically glued together.

"Sorry, Charlie. Andy's totally wasted, and his phone's busted, so I couldn't call you," Sophia said, sounding all apologetic.

As Andrew lifted his head, his eyes met mine, and a sudden smile spread across his face.

"Why bother? She's not my girlfriend anyway."

"Stop messing around." Sophia laughed and gave him a playful punch in the chest.

But then, almost absentmindedly, she shot me a glance, raised her eyebrow, and gave me a cryptic smirk.
