Three days later, a royal decree arrived at the Sinclair residence.

Queen Eleanor summoned me to the palace to attend her side, as a gesture of gratitude for protecting her that day.

When Lady Margaret received the decree, her face turned gloomy.

She forced a smile, handed the guy who brought the decree a heavy purse, but when she turned to me, that smile stiffened at the corners of her mouth.

"You sure are lucky, Charlotte," she said.

I lowered my eyes and bowed respectfully. "Thank you for all your years of upbringing, my lady."
