Chapter 5

The heat in his eyes hadn't faded, but there was now a troubled conflict I couldn't understand.

Charles swallowed hard and slowly lowered his head.

I could feel his heavy, ragged breathing above me, each breath brushing against my hair with a fierce, possessive heat.

His kiss was gentle, soft as a feather against my lips. The faint coolness eased some of the burning heat inside me.

Yet that quiet tenderness unsettled me far more than any rough touch would have.

The comments erupted in excitement.
