Edward's face was thunderous.

He let go of me, shot to his feet, and stormed toward the door in long, angry strides.

I scrambled off his lap, hurriedly straightening my rumpled clothes, my heart still pounding from the close call.

The door was yanked open with a loud crash.

Samuel was outside, blocked by two guards, pacing like an angry little lion ready to pounce.

When he saw Edward step out, his eyes were red with fury.

"Uncle Edward, what did you do to Charlotte?" Samuel shouted.
