"We can start over. Let's try again, really make things work."

Ternence's sobs cut off in an instant.

He suddenly looked panicked, his expression shifting fast.

He stammered for a long moment before finally forcing out the words.

"Isn't it... isn't it too late now?

"The hospital's already closed.

"How about we go tomorrow? Please?"

I watched his flustered act, sneering inwardly.

It was all fake.

I didn't expose him. Instead, I took out my phone, unlocked it, and acted like I was about to make a call.

I said, "No worries. Private hospitals are open all day, every day.
