I locked myself in my room that day. My parents came back shortly after.

"Halirica is a thousand miles away," my mom said carefully. "Once we relocate, coming back won't be simple."

My dad pretended to read his newspaper while stealing glances.

Shrugging into my coat, I said, "The weather's awesome there. It's your dream retirement spot, isn't it?"
