I stayed put.

"Peyton, I'm not going to stand here arguing with you on the street," Lucas said, sounding impatient.

Gritting my teeth, I braced myself on my knees, pulled the car door open, and slid inside.

The car was cozy, and the air inside had that clean, woodsy scent, like Lucas's aura, cool and understated.

He didn't bother asking where I wanted to go and took me straight to a private hospital nearby.

He took care of checking me in, getting me through the exam, and picking up my meds.
