Chapter 3
I snatched up the glass from the nightstand and threw it at him.
The glass smashed against his shoulder, shattering into pieces.
He grabbed my wrist tightly and said sharply, "What are you pretending for?
"Weren't you always the one throwing yourself at me all these years?"
My stomach churned with acid, and I drove my knee hard into him.
Andrew grunted in pain, his grip loosening for a split second.
I spun around and dashed for the door, but just as my fingers touched the handle, he jerked me back by my hair.
My scalp hurts as if it's about to split open.
He slammed me against the wall, his alcohol fumes blew onto my face.
He sneered, "Didn't you say you loved Edward?
"But I'm the one who's touched you the most.
"And now you want to play the innocent?"
I slapped him hard across the face.
His head snapped to the side, and when he turned back, his eyes were cold and menacing.
"Don't be shameless, Lily," he growled.
He leaned in and grabbed my collar.
With all my strength, I smashed the lamp against his forehead.
*****
He grunted and staggered back.
I twisted the doorknob and bolted out, barefoot.
The living room was brightly lit.
Edward sat on the couch.
Emma sat next to him, a tablet in her hands.
They stood up when they saw me rushing down with my clothes in disarray.
Andrew stumbled out after me, clutching his forehead and scolding a dirty word.
Edward's expression changed.
"What happened?" he asked.
My voice was hoarse.
"He tried to force himself on me," I said.
Andrew let out a mocking laugh.
He sneered, "Edward, she is crazy?
"I just went to see her, and she smashed a lamp over my head."
I stared at Edward.
"You believe him?" I asked.
Edward didn't answer.
He looked at Andrew's injury first.
"Go get that treated," he said.
I took a step back.
This is already the answer.
Emma came over and reached for me.
"Lily, calm down first," she said.
I dodged her touch.
"Don't touch me," I snapped.
Her eyes turned red in an instant.
"I'm just worried about you." she whispered.
I stared at her.
I said, "You were worried about me, so you turned me into a mistress?
"So you sent Andrew into my room?"
Emma's face went pale.
"I didn't know he'd do that," she said.
Andrew said impatiently.
He sneered, "Cut it out. Stop pretending you're the victim.
"Weren't you the one who said she was dumb and the easiest to control?"
Emma turned back instantly.
"Shut up!" she snapped.
The living room went dead silent.
Edward's gaze fall onto Emma.
Emma quickly grabbed his hand.
"Edward, he's just drunk and spouting nonsense," she said.
I let out a bitter laugh.
Edward still wouldn't look at me.
He finally spoke.
"That's enough for tonight."
I froze.
I asked, "That's it?
"Edward, he tried to force himself on me.
"Your fiancée also knows your brother was pretending to be you.
"And you're just going to leave it at that?"
He stepped closer and lowered his voice.
"Do you really want to blow this up so no one can fix it?" he said.
I stared at his outstretched hand and instinctively pulled back.
"Yes, I will never let any of you get away with this!" I answered.
Edward's hand froze in midair.
After a long silence, he finally said.
"Take her back to theroom."
Two nannies stepped forward and grabbed me.
I couldn't break free.
The pain from the miscarriage flared up again, and cold sweat soaked my back.
As I was dragged upstairs, Andrew was still standing in the living room.
His forehead was wrapped in gauze, and his eyes were full of hatred.
