Wes returned from Chicago five hours after I left the house.

The doorbell camera was still connected to my phone. I watched him rush inside, then reappear on the porch seven minutes later.

He called the company accountant first.

Then he called the attorney who had prepared the ownership transfer.

Only after that did he call me.

Wes made twenty-seven calls in total.

Yet his first message still read, What exactly did you do to the company?
