Two hours later, Michael finally came back.

It was obvious he'd only returned after soothing Charlotte.

I'd half-expected them to be up there all night, going at it like rabbits.

Michael was changing his shoes at the door, already lecturing me. "Can you stop acting like royalty? Charlotte gets scared so easily. If you talk to her like that, she gets all hurt."
