I gripped my phone so tightly my knuckles turned white. "Who did you say you are?"

"Claire Summers," she repeated, her voice still sweet and gentle. "I'm James' girlfriend. I know he asked you for a divorce today. I think we need to meet."

"Need to?" I laughed. "Why do we need to?"

"There are some things I'd rather say to you in person," she said after a pause. "About James, and about the baby I'm carrying."
