Yolanda said, "I've already told the doctor. Come surgery day, they're cutting you open no matter what. Even if your insides are nothing but cancer, they're ripping that kidney out and making it mine.

"Even if it only works for a day, I want you to see with your own eyes how your kidney becomes my property."

I clenched my teeth and jerked my hand away, sudden and forceful.

The back of my hand was red and swollen, the skin scraped and bleeding.
