Chapter 4

We were in Edward's private lounge.

The heater was turned up high. He handed me a cup of hot water. I wrapped my hands around it, feeling the chill in my fingertips slowly fade away.

"You said you took the fall for Tobias?" he asked, sitting across from me. His voice was low, impossible to read.

"Yeah," I replied.

"Any proof?" he pressed.

I said with a bitter smile, "I don't have any. I guess the only evidence is me."

Edward just stared at me in silence, like he was trying to figure out if I was telling the truth.
