Chapter 1
Even in death, I can feel the vibrations of celebration echoing through the grand ballroom of the Silvermoon Pack house. The crystal chandeliers that I once carefully selected cast their ethereal glow over the gathering below – a mate ceremony that should have been sacred but instead has become my ultimate humiliation.
Christopher stands tall and proud, his hand possessively gripping Amanda's waist. His Alpha aura radiates across the room, commanding respect from the visiting pack leaders and the stern-faced Lycan Council envoy. How easily they all forget that I once stood where Amanda stands now, my own mate mark fresh on my neck, my heart full of promises that would eventually poison me.
"Today, we celebrate not just a union," Christopher's voice booms across the ballroom, "but a new beginning for the Silvermoon Pack."
I watch through invisible eyes as Amanda beams, her fingers tracing that spot on her neck where Christopher's mark will soon be. The spot that was once mine. The mark that was supposed to be eternal.
Three years dead, and still, I feel the phantom pain of rejection. The sacred bond severed not by choice but by betrayal.
"Before we complete our ceremony," Christopher continues, his voice dropping to a somber tone that I recognize all too well – the same tone he used when he publicly rejected me, "I must address the shadow that has hung over our pack."
A hush falls over the crowd. Even in death, I can sense the shift in energy, the collective intake of breath. This is the moment I've been waiting for. The trap I set before my last breath is about to spring.
With a gesture that reeks of rehearsed solemnity, Christopher activates the large screens mounted around the ballroom. My face appears – but not as they remember their Luna. This is me in captivity, bloodied and weak, poisoned by wolfsbane that Amanda administered daily with a smile.
"Three years ago, our former Luna betrayed not just me, but all of you," Christopher declares, his voice hardening as gasps ripple through the crowd. "She consorted with rogues, violated our most sacred laws, and when confronted, fled to their territory."
The footage plays on – carefully edited to show only my suffering, none of my captors. In death, I feel no pain watching this, only a cold satisfaction as I notice what Christopher, in his arrogance, overlooked.
In the corner of the screen, barely visible, flickers a watermark – a small crescent moon with a digital code embedded within it. The same symbol I painstakingly placed in my memorial records, knowing that someone loyal would eventually make the connection.
Across the room, Beta Liam stands rigid among the pack guard. His eyes narrow, focusing not on my battered form but on that tiny symbol. I chose him well. Intelligent, observant, and most importantly, doubtful of the convenient story Christopher spun about my "betrayal."
I watch as recognition dawns in his eyes. He's seen this symbol before, in the digital archives he maintains so meticulously. The same archives where I hid the access codes to my evidence vault, disguised as a simple memorial tribute.
"These videos prove what many suspected," Christopher continues, oblivious to the seed of his destruction taking root. "Victoria Hayes betrayed her mate bond and her pack. This ceremony today cleanses our pack of that stain."
Amanda's smile is triumphant as she squeezes Christopher's hand. If only she knew that her victory celebration is actually the beginning of her downfall.
Liam's posture has changed. His jaw is set, his eyes cold. As Christopher speaks of honor and loyalty – words that taste like ash in the mouths of those who knew me – Liam quietly slips his phone from his pocket, typing a note to himself.
Three years I've waited in the void. Three years for my carefully orchestrated revenge to begin. As Christopher raises a glass to toast his new beginning, the first domino falls.
The truth doesn't stay buried forever. Not even when it's been poisoned by wolfsbane and covered with six feet of earth.
